Update On fascists attendance to asheville Martial arts tournament

Thank you to each and everyone who has reached out to T.C. Roberson Highschool and Fuji BJJ over the last week. We wanted to provide an update on the event and developments of the last few days.

T.C. Roberson high school has responded quickly and clearly to emails sent to them asking for action to be taken on their end as hosts to the Fuji BJJ tournament. Principal Allison is in direct communication with the event organizers, and relayed their assurances that all named individuals from our original blog post have not signed up for the Asheville event, and will not be allowed to sign up for the event. In fact, principal Allison gave a final update yesterday stating that T.C. Roberson will no longer be the host of the FUJI BJJ tournament on Saturday 2/10 in Asheville. We thank T.C. Roberson for their communication and decisive actions.

While this is a victory, it is only a partial one. Tim Morthland of Fuji BJJ, has responded to concerned community members with curt, snarky replies suggesting there is no issue at hand with fascists attending the event. (Email correspondence pictured below)

We have reason to believe Tim Morthland sympathizes with fascists attending “his” competitions, given that he is pictured posing with both Ian Elliot and Paul Gancarz at a Fuji BJJ event in Allentown, PA (Pictured Below). Tim has made no indication that he or Fuji BJJ will make any statement disavowing nazi or white supremacist participation in their events.

It seems that the event will continue and be moved to another local location. While it is currently unconfirmed where the tournament will be hosted, there are leads that the host will be American Top Team Asheville. We also have leads that the *possible* new hosts ARE open to doing their part in keeping nazi participation from taking place, and will bar them from participation.

We want to thank all who’ve reached out so far, and ask that continued pressure be put on Tim Morthland, Fuji BJJ, and American Top Team Asheville to keep these nazis from gaining a foothold in Asheville and the global BJJ community.
